I am very curious parent of children who attend L.J. Bell Elementary School and want to know how the school board chooses which school gets renovations and when they receive them.
When I opened up the newspaper today and saw the Media Center at Fairview Heights I was startled to see this because L.J. Bell has been asking for a new Media Center every since we as voters were asked to pass a bond to complete renovations of the schools in Richmond County. I am not saying that Fairview Heights did not deserve what they received because they needed one as much as L.J. Bell. But As I look around throughout the county I see a new school being built from the ground up and renovations that have been completed at other schools.
When the schools were shifted around and the Ninth Grade Academy needed to be upgraded and it was done immediately. Being that I have children that attend L.J. Bell Elementary school all I want to see is for the school board to give us at least one renovation. We have repeatedly contacted members of the school board and asked for such as a media center and a gym.
When the weather is bad outside our students have to go and play on the stage in the auditorium. They don’t have a gym to go to. When it is so cold outside you will find our students in the classroom. The parents of L.J. Bell did our part in helping to get the bond passed we even put an ad in the newspaper now all I want the school board to do is their part and keep their word. We have repeatedly been told by school board members that our turn is coming but it has yet to come.
