Mrs. Joyce Griggs Knight, 80, of 5101 Hwy.38 North, Bennettsville, S.C., died, Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, at her residence.

Mrs. Knight was born October 16, 1929, in Bennettsville, SC, daughter of Lawrence Griggs and Julia Leviner Griggs.

She was a member of Nebo Wesleyan Church and worked in textiles, as a supervisor, before retirement.

Visitation will be Monday, January 18, 2010, at Harrington Funeral Home, Hamlet, NC, from 6-8 p.m.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Nebo Wesleyan Church with Rev. Jeff Collins and Rev. Yancy Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Knight was preceded in death by her parents; her late husband, Claude Knight; sisters, Lois Griggs and Josephine Quick; and brothers, L.C. Griggs, J.W. “Shorty” Griggs, Thomas Griggs and Paul Griggs.

Survivors include her four daughters, Hazel Tew and husband Lemuel of Rockingham, Claudia Stanley and husband Dennis of Hamlet, Maxine Knight of the home and Vicky Knight of the home; one brother, Edwin Griggs of Wallace, S.C.;four sisters, Mildred Webb, Marcella Cheves, Julia English and Betty English all of Wallace, S.C.; two grandchildren, Kip Stanley and wife Patsy and Ashley Terry and husband Kevin; and eight great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kole, Trinity & Sage Stanley, Bryson and Ally Singletary and Kannon and Sophia Terry.
