The Richmond County Board of Education will recognize it National Board Certified Teachers at its regular meeting tonight at 7 at the Richmond County Schools Central Office in Hamlet.
The recognition is the first item on the board’s agenda, and is set to be presented by Associate Superintendent Dr. Jeff Maples.
The school board is also scheduled to hear from RCS Director of Testing and Accountability Steve Lear on the school system’s plan to transition to new state guidelines for high school graduation requirements.
The state approved a measure last year to drop the state’s requirement of competency and computer skills tests to qualify for high school graduation.
An audit of the school system’s exceptional children’s program will be also be delivered by EC Coordinator Jeanette Davis, and RCS Director of Federal Programs Cindy Holland will present a report on the implications of the Obama Administration’s Race to the Top initiative.
An explanation of the final Southern Association of Colleges and Schools review will also be delivered by RCS Associate Superintendent Dr. Michael Perry.
A closed session will follow several other item actions on the board’s agenda, including the approval of revised policies and proposed field trips.
