Desmond Amir Jones of Fuquay Varina celebrated his first birthday on Dec. 18 at his home. Desmond is the son of Darryl Jones and Alisa Covington of Fuquay Varina. His grandmothers are Lois Jones of Hamlet and Brenda Covington of Laurinburg. The theme for his party was a jungle scene. Children in attendance were his sister, Ayo Covington and cousin Deandre Covington; along with Jace, Xavier and Sienaa John, Taylor and Christopher Parker. Adults in attendance were his parents, Darryl and Alisa; grandmother, Lois; aunts, Keyatta and Cherie Covington; Steve and Amber John; and Conswallea Parker.
