Richmond Senior’s wrestling team lost a Southeastern Conference dual meet on the road Wednesday night at Hoke, falling to the Bucks, 72-12.

The Raiders (0-2 SEC) were without several key wrestlers due to injury and illness, according to Richmond coach Ken Neal.

The only bright spots of the night for the Raiders came at 171 pounds and at 215, where Kenneth Hester and Lucas Newton earned victories by fall. Newton’s win was his first non-forfeit win of the season.

“They took it to us,” Neal said.

“But a lot of young guys got to wrestle for us tonight and get some experience.”

Richmond returns to action next on Saturday when the Raiders will travel to Union Pines for a tournament.

Raider Gold girls win

Thr Richmond Raider Gold freshman girls basketball team topped Hoke, 34-22 Wednesday afternoon at the Richmond Ninth Grade Academy Gymnasium.

The Gold girls got 10 points apiece from Kevena Stanback and Michelle Covington. Baily Coulthard added five points and nine rebounds.

The Lady Raiders return to action tonight at Lumberton.
