The Richmond County Commissioners will kick off the new decade of county politics with their regular monthly meeting Monday at 6:30 p.m.
The board will hold a public hearing to discuss the granting of demolition permits based on the receipt of an irrevocable letter of credit. That would protect the county from being stuck with derelict property if the cleanup wasn’t complete.
The board will also discuss approval of an updated Fair Housing Plan for the Department of Commerce’s Division of Community Assistance Grant for the Fox Road waterline project.
Department of Social Services Director Tammy Shrenker will address the board Monday night to discuss including the operations for Child Support Enforcement under the DSS umbrella rather than creating a stand-alone department.
A memo in the agenda packet suggests that incorporating the child support enforcement with DSS services would be more cost effective for the county.
The board will also hear one final change order for the judicial building that removes four items from the initial plans. This will be the last change order as the building is nearing completion.
The meeting is at 6:30 p.m. at the county administrative building located at 125 S. Hancock Street, downtown Rockingham.
