Mr. Elmer Floyd Harris, 81, of 108 Laurel St., Rockingham, died Friday, Jan. 1, 2010 at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 5, in the Bobby Lammonds Memorial Chapel at Russell-Marks Funeral Home with Rev. Joey Byrd, Rev. Ricky Jacobs, and Rev. Russell Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Beulah Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery.

Mr. Harris was born in Harland, Kentucky on Oct. 28, 1928 to the late Simpson F. and Maggie Rebecca Brooks Harris. A carpenter for most of his life, he retired from the Maintenance Dept. of the Richmond County School System, and served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Lee Dixon Harris in 2006.

He is survived by two sons, James Harris of Rockingham, John Harris of Hamlet; a daughter, Nellie Brigman of Rockingham; two brothers, Frank Harris of Monroe, Henry Harris of Baltimore, MD; a sister, Nannie Liles of Troy; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Richmond County Hospice, 1119 N. US Hwy 1, Rockingham, NC 28379.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8:00 PM at Russell-Marks Funeral Home.
