Officers responded to a disturbance on Shannon Drive around 7:15 a.m. on Dec. 25 when they initially noted a car traveling along Shannon Drive and a man chasing the vehicle on-foot yelling and cursing, according to reports.
Officers asked the man, Johnny Randolph Shaw Jr., 41, Shannon Drive, Rockingham, to stop cursing and yelling.
He did not.
Reports state that officials attempted to handcuff Shaw who resisted and refused to comply.
Once officers managed to handcuff Shaw and walk him back to the patrol car, Shaw rammed one of the officers and began chasing after the victim again, according to reports.
Officers tased Shaw to subdue him and put him under arrest.
Reports also say that officials spoke to the victims mother who said that the victim had gone to Shaw’s home that morning to get her cat which had recently been injured.
A disagreement between the two resulted in Shaw throwing the cat at the victim, along with several cans of cat food, according to reports.
She was forced out of the apartment and went to her vehicle to call police.
Shaw was charged with misdemeanor assault on a female, misdemeanor resisting a public official and misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
His bond was set at $2,500.

A man driving along Hwy. 74 in Rockingham reported having the back windshield of his vehicle shot out on Dec. 16 around 10:45 p.m., according to reports from the Rockingham Police Department.
Reports state that he had just passed a car dealership while traveling in the right lane when he heard a, “loud pop,” which he claimed sounded like a gun shot.
After the shot, his back window shattered.
In the report, the man noted he was not sure where the shot originated from but did see an orange truck in the left lane adjacent to him before the shot.
No suspects or leads were mentioned in the report.

A man was robbed on Bryan Circle after a car pulled up next to him and a suspect in the vehicle demanded money. No weapon was reported.
A manager at a sstore on East Broad Avenue reported suspecting an employee of stealing over $4,000 in merchandise since November.
A Chevrolet pick-up truck was reported stolen by an owner on Crow Run, but within a few hours reports state the vehicle was recovered at an ex-wife’s house.
An assault was reported at a motel on East Broad Avenue.
Someone at a local shopping center reported a suspect communicating threats and assaulting them with a knife.
A business on East Broad Avenue reported $36 in merchandise stolen.
Someone attempted to break into a house on Pineridge Drive. A window and screen were damaged.
A pizza delivery driver was robbed at gunpoint after two unidentified males ordered her to hand over her money.
A vehicle on East Broad Street was reported being keyed and a CB antenna snapped off the vehicle. Damage is estimated at a total of $2,080.
A home on South Caroline street was reported being broken into and over $5,000 in property, Christmas gifts and decorations stolen.
Someone was reported communicating threats on Lady Mary Lane.
Police reported an attempted suicide at a local motel when someone jumped off a second-story balcony.
A home on Avalon Drive was burglarized and two high definition televisions were reported stolen.
On Lady Mary Lane, over $1,500 in property was stolen.
Copper pipes and wiring were stolen from within a crawl space on a home on Boone Street. Property stolen or damaged is estimated at $400.
n Someone on Long Drive reported a domestic dispute in the parking lot of a restaurant.
Accidents reported by the North Carolina Highway Patrol include:
Helen Stephanie Castillo, 17, Freeman Mill Road, was involved in an accident on Ghio Road on Dec. 16 when according to reports, she crossed the center line, overcorrected and ran off the road to the right.
She struck a ditch and her vehicle overturned. She was transported to FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital.
Castillo was cited with failure to maintain lane control and failure to wear a seat belt.
Damage to her 2008 Toyota was estimated at $2,500.
On Dec. 18, Jerry Pernell Stevenson, 35, Hwy. 177, Hamlet, and Tony Sherwood Sweatt Jr., were involved in an accident when Stevenson failed to reduce speed and struck Sweatt who was waiting to make a left turn.
Stevenson was cited with a failure to reduce speed.
Sweatt was transported to FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital.
Tarbarus Kinta McRae, 32, McIntyre Road, Ellerbe, and Virchermore Reddick Jr., Reddick Road, Rockingham, were involved in an accident after McRae attempted to back into a driveway and Reddick failed to reduce speed to avoid collision.
No injures were reported, but Reddick was cited with a failure to reduce speed citation.
Damage to McRae’s semi-truck was estimated at $500 and damage to Reddick’s 2009 Chrysler was estimated at $1,000.
