Betty Ann Pate Watson, of Laurinburg passed away on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009 at the age of 73.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009 at the East Laurinburg Pentecostal Holiness Church officiated by Rev. Michael Price and Rev. Legrand Taylor. Entombment will follow the service at Richmond County Memorial Park.

Mrs. Watson was born Oct. 23, 1936 in Richmond County, daughter of the late Dewey James Pate Sr. and Bernie Batton Pate. She devoted her life to her family as a precious and loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She worked in banking with First Union Bank and Wachovia retiring after many years of dedicated service.

Betty was a longtime faithful member of East Rockingham Pentecostal Holiness Church and then the East Laurinburg Pentecostal Holiness Church. She served as the church organist for more than 27 years. She loved gospel music and enjoyed singing with her group.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband, Frank Watson of their home; her children, sons, Gregory Dean Watson and wife Diana of Fayetteville, Stanley Franklin Watson and wife Robin of McColl, SC, James Anthony “Tony” Watson of Gibson; her daughters, Sharon Bowen of Laurinburg, Susan Wallwork and husband Steve of Hope Mills; a brother, Dewey J. “DJ” Pate, Jr. of Wagram; sister, Elaine Pate of Cary; 15 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29th at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
