But with so many children to provide for it’s amazing Santa can keep up with all the different items on children’s lists. The Daily Journal is here to help and has laid out a special section for Santa so he knows exactly what the children of Richmond County want for Christmas.
Some of the most common gifts asked for this year are Baby Alive dolls, DSi game consoles, Wii consoles and games, ZhuZhu hamsters, Moxie Girlz Dolls, Bratz dolls, bikes, Transformers, roller skates, laptops and cell phones.
Hannah Montana dolls, clothes and other items were also among the most asked for toys.
Some children went the more traditional route and asked for things like crayons and coloring books, movies and action figures.
The Daily Journal got hundreds of letters. Some of them were elaborate and had a long list of “I want,” like this one from 6-year-old Matthew:
“Dear Santa Claus, Thank you for my toys and I love you. I really hope to see you this year. I have been a good boy to my dad, my mom and my mema. Sometimes I have been good to my sister. This year I want a DSi, Pokemon cards, Game Boy, Bakugan DS game, Game boy game, Star Wars toys, Nerf Gun, The Sorry Game, Crayon Maker, Battle Strikers, Monopoly and a toy BB gun. Love Matthew, age 6. P.S. I love the reindeers.”
Others were short and simple and to the point, like this one from Katlyn, “I want a four-wheeler for Christmas and a baby doll. Love, Katlyn.”
This year’s wish-list hasn’t changed much from last year when many children were asking for Batman, Spiderman and Ninja Turtle toys, High School Musical DVDs, Bratz dolls, Nintendo DS, Barbie’s, dogs, cats, iPods, trampolines, Guitar Hero games, American Girl dolls, and Dora the Explorer and Handy Manny.
The stuffed toy Webkinz were also a big item on the children’s wish list last year, along with Nerf guns.
So there’s no way to tell what Santa will bring to Richmond County’s children this year, but it looks like he’s got some pretty good ideas on his list.
One thing’s for sure, though, nearly every child that wrote to Santa this year promised him cookies and milk and treats for the reindeer. So kids, get ready, start baking so you’re ready when Santa comes down the chimney to deliver his presents.
He’s got a lot of work to do on Christmas Eve and we wouldn’t want him to work on an empty stomach.

How are you? Have the elves been making stuff for all the children around the world? I know that Mrs. Claus made a huge jar of chocolate chip cookies, one for you, one for the elves, and one for the reindeer. Sometimes, my family except my brother says “do I believe in you” and I always say “yes” because I do and I already know that they are just testing me to see if the Christmas spirit has left me ... at an age like 9! Our Christmas tree has had a few problems with the lights but other than that it is as bright as the North Star.
