SonShine Express Learning Center’s grand opening on Friday afternoon wasn’t drowned out by dreary weather and the cold rain.

Dr. Janice and Randolph Norris technically opened their doors a little over a month ago, but recently joined the Richmond County Chamber of Commerce and held their grand opening during a ribbon cutting ceremony.

One of SonShine’s main goals is to education but another is to teach them Christian ethics.

Janice Norris is also going on her fifth year as a local pastor and says she feels strongly about what she’s doing for the children. Likewise, she works within the school system as a middle school teacher.

Randolph said he has worked for 30 years with CSX, but also utilizes his master’s degree in History to teach the occasional course.

“A lot of kids come to us that can’t read and can’t do math properly,” Janice Norris said. “We cam help them at an early age.”

SonShine Learning Center educates children ages zero to 12 and focuses on a Christian-based system which provides early childhood education and care.

“We will teach math, science, music, art and Engligh,” Janice Norris said. “It’s pretty well rounded.”

According to the Norris’, there are slots available for children and employment opportunities are also available.

SonShine Express Learning Center can be reached at 997-3160.
