FAYETTEVILLE — The Richmond Senior men’s basketball team struggled in the third quarer en route to a 68-45 loss on the road at Cape Fear Thursday night.

The loss was the first of the 2009-10 season for the Raiders (5-1).

Richmond led 25-23 at intermission, but the Raiders were outscored by the Colts, 21-8 in the third quarter.

Turnovers bit the Raiders in the third quarter, according to coach David Laton. Richmond turned the ball over 10 times in the stanza.

“This was the worst game we’ve played,” Laton said. “We did a terrible job handling the ball in the second half.”

Will Freeman led the Raiders with 12 points. Brian Love added eight and Kasheem Reid added seven.

The Raiders travel to Trinity Christian tonight.
