Man arrested for break-in attempt

An Ellerbe man was arrested by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office on Nov. 15 after he attempted to break into someone’s home and was quickly detained by the owner, reports said.

Adam Christopher Eccher, 26, Firetower Road, Ellerbe, was arrested for felony first-degree burglary as he attempted to break into a home on Luther Street in Rockingham.

According to reports, the victim advised the Sheriff’s Office that he and his wife were asleep when they heard a noise coming from their living room. One of the owners of the home left the bedroom to check on the noise and saw Eccher running out the door.

Reports than state that the victim ran after the suspect.

The suspect was apprehended by the victim who had quickly caught up to him and was held until deputies arrived on the scene.

Eccher was arrested and placed in the Richmond County Jail under a $50,000 bond awaiting a Dec. 17 court date.

Other arrests reported by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office include:

n Gerald Christopher West, 24, Midway Road, Rockingham, was arrested for felony larceny, felony obtaining property by false pretense and misdemeanor failure to appear. Bond was set at $5,000.

n William Clay Wallace, 25, Country Home Road, Rockingham, was arrested for felony larceny, felony obtaining property by false pretense and misdemeanor failure to appear. Bond was set at $500.

Incidents reported to the Rockingham Police Department include:

n A business on East Broad Avenue reported $901 was stolen.

n A vehicle owner working at a business on Rockingham Road reported their front windshield was shattered while at work. Damage is estimated at $150.

n A woman on South Hancock Street reported her wallet stolen from her purse. Property stolen is valued at $200.

n On Shannon Drive, a pet owner reported her cat missing.

n A homeowner on Linden Drive reported their home broken into and $300 in cash, $50 in prescription pills and $15 in jewelry stolen.

n Someone on Ann Street reported an assault on a female.

n On Medical Drive, a car owner reported their vehicle broken into and $200 in cash, $180 purse missing and a window, valued at $200, broken.

n A car on Garrett Street was reported being keyed.

n At a gaming establishment on East Broad Avenue, someone reported leaving their debit card and someone using it on a chat line. The reported cost was $34.

n Police responded to a domestic assault on JFK Drive in Rockingham.

n A business on East Broad Avenue reported the theft of a $1,350 nightly deposit after the bank called and reported that it had not been dropped off.

n Someone reported a neighbor on Cauthen drive being disorderly and communicating threats.

n A homeowner on Sanford Street reported someone trying to open his front door while he was at home. Once the suspect saw the owner he fled.

Arrests reported by the Rockingham Police Department include:

n Fred Jasper McDonald, 46, Rockingham, was arrested for misdemeanor larceny. Bond was set at $500.

n Derek Jerome Morgan, 28, Green Lake Road, Rockingham, was arrested for misdemeanor driving with license revoked and misdemeanor insurance violation. Bond was set at $500.

n Douglas Tracy McIver, 43, Leader Lane, Hoffman, was arrested for three counts of order for arrest. Bond was set at $500.

n Jeffery Lovell Robinson, 52, Rockingham, was arrested for misdemeanor assault and battery and misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon. Bond was set at $1,000.

n Ronald Donnell Johnson, 29, Elliott Drive, Laurinburg, was arrested for misdemeanor assault on a female.

n Pamela Kay Johnson, 24, Caswell Street, Wilmington, was arrested for driving while intoxicated and misdemeanor hit and run. Bond was set at $500.

n Shirley Covington, 24, Cauthen Drive, Rockingham, was arrested for misdemeanor assault and battery. Bond was set at $500.

n Keith Tanner, 44, Fifth Street, Lilesville, was arrested for misdemeanor open container and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond was set at $500.

Arrest reports published in the Richmond County Daily Journal are copied from local law enforcement records. Except for people injured in motor vehicle accidents or reportable deaths, victims including people, businesses and institutions and their addresses are not included as a matter of newspaper policy. Reports include both arrests and criminal summons such as citations. The Daily Journal lists them all as arrests. People charged are presumed innocent until determined to be guilty by a court of law.
