Mr. James Richard Bostick Sr., 88, of Hoffman died Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009 at Morrison Manor in Laurinburg.  He was born Jan. 16, 1921 in Moore County, a son of the late Samuel and Mattie Newton Bostick.

Mr. Bostick was owner and operator of Hoffman BP for 30 years and was mayor of Hoffman for a number of years.  He was a member of Hoffman United Methodist Church and a member of Hoffman Fire Department.  He served overseas in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009 at Hoffman Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Maness officiating.  Interment will follow in the family cemetery.

Surviving is his wife of 64 years, Grace Robertson Bostick; two sons, Richard “Ritchie”  Bostick, Jr. of Mooresville and Barry Bostick and wife Karla of Hoffman;  a grandson, Rickie and wife Hope; a granddaughter, Grace; a great grandson, Landon, a great granddaughter, Sydney, and a nephew, Sammy, who was like a son.  Mr. Bostick was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Rushing, and brothers, Sam, Bill, Jack, Buck, and Cecil Bostick.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham.
