Lien Marie Buchanan and Matthew James Bailey were married Saturday Sept. 5 , 2009 at Ocean Isle Beach Chapel at 4 p.m.

The bride is the daughter of Richard and Rien Buchanan of Richmond, Va.

Lien is a 2002 graduate of UNC-Asheville with a major in accounting. She is employed as a senior financial analyst with Newell Rubbermaid in Huntersville, NC.

The groom is the son of Randy and Dayle Bailey of Rockingham. He is the grandson of Margie Bailey and the late H.A. Bailey also of Rockingham, and of James Gleason and the late Vivian Gleason of Creswell, Oregon.

Matt is a 1997 graduate of Richmond Senior High and a 2001 graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill with a major in Political Science. In 2005 he graduated from the New England College of Optometry with the Doctor of Optometry degree. He is employed as an optometrist with Eye Care Center in Charlotte, NC.

The ceremony was conducted by Pastor Larry Melton.

The bride was given in marriage by her father.

The maid of honor was Laura Couey of Mt. Pleasant, SC. Bridesmaids were Larissa Redden of Hendersonville, NC; Toni Armstrong of Devon, PA; Kelly Crocker of Elkridge, MD; Joy Robinson of Follansbee, WV; and Alison Bailey-Fiato, sister of the groom, of Charlotte, NC.

The junior bridesmaids were Hannah Schick, niece of the groom, and Emily Buchanan, niece of the bride. The flower girls were Olivia and Gabrielle Buchanan, also nieces of the bride.

The best man was Ryan Hill of Charlotte, NC; and groomsmen were Chad Gibson of Winston-Salem, NC; Doug Rett of Boston, MA; Jarrod Keller of Spartanburg, SC; Ben Buchanan, brother of the bride, of Wintersville, OH; and Tim Buchanan, also brother of the bride, of Charlotte, NC.

The junior groomsmen were Adam and Mason Bailey, nephews of the groom, of Rockingham.

The reception was held at The Winds Beach Resort in Ocean Isle Beach, NC. The couple left for their honeymoon on the island of St. Lucia, West Indies. They now reside in Charlotte, NC.
