The Raiders will open defense of its state title at home against Northwest Guilford at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Richmond received 58 points to move up into a tie for the No. 4 spot.
The Raiders are in a tie with Wake Forest-Rolesville.
The Cougars moved up into the tie for the No. 4 slot after they defeated Leesville Road 20-3.
Butler maintained the No. 1 spot in the poll after downing last week’s No. 2 Independence 31-24. The Bulldogs grabbed all 10 first place votes and are 20 points in front of Jamestown Ragsdale. Independence fell one spot to No. 3 after the loss.
The Tigers jumped up two spots this week after cruising past High Point Central 34-7.
Winston-Salem Reynolds dropped one spot after being in a tie for the No. 4 spot last week. The Demons rolled past Reagan 33-6.
Rounding out the top 10, Jack Britt fell four spots to No. 7 after it lost to Terry Sanford 48-42. Greensboro Dudley and Mallard Creek were tied at No. 8. Dudley breezed past Grimsley 48-3, while Mallard Creek had a bye week. Harnett Central jumped into the No. 10 spot after it downed Garner 34-9.
