The winners were: Dianne Haugen; manager of the quarter; Kenyett Moody; nurse of the quarter; and Dennis Smith, employee of the quarter.
Smith works in the environmental services department and is assigned to the Hamlet VA clinic. He has been employed at the hospital for one-and-a-half years.
Mary Dunlap, acting nurse manager at the VA clinic, wrote a letter praising Smith’s work. “He is consistently timely, dependable and thorough in carrying out his assignment at the clinic,” she said. “He is appreciated for this positive attitude, being part of the clinic team and his willingness to go the extra mile to assure that the environment is kept clean and safe for patients and staff.”
She also said visitors from the Joint Commission, Office of Inspector General and Congressman Larry Kissell have all made comments about the upkeep of the clinic.
In addition, Dunlap said Smith goes the extra mile by taking a personal interest in making sure staff members who work late are escorted to their cars.
“His works speaks for itself and his personality and charisma speaks of his character,” said Nan Davis, SHRMC Environmental Services manager. “He is just a good person.”
Moody has been a nurse in behavioral health since July 2007, starting as a part-time employee and eventually becoming full time in the fall of 2008. She has served as the Patient Care Coordinator for the Behavioral Health Institute since January 2009.
“Kenyett’s focus on quality nursing care has revitalized the unit and has brought our nursing staff to a higher level than ever before,” said Carol Schaaf, Behavioral Health manager.
“Kenyett has stepped into the nursing leadership role with enthusiasm and actively finds ways to assist patients, physicians and staff to do their best work. She brings a quiet competence and leads the entire team by example,” Schaaf said.
Haugen is manager of Health Information (Medical Records). She’s been with Hamlet Hospital/SHRMC for almost 22 years.
“Dianne has worked directly with our patients, families, and physicians at Sandhills Regional Medical Center for many years,” said Lynne Rudisill, SHRMC chief financial officer. “She is a caring and genuinely interested in the care and well being of everyone we treat here. She continually works to improve her department to help the physicians provide excellent care to our patients.”
Michael Davis, SHRMC Chief Executive Officer, presented each recipient with a plaque and monetary award from the hospital.
“It is such an honor to recognize outstanding employees who go beyond expectations in the services they render to and on behalf of our facility,” Davis said.
