A Richmond County man is in custody on sex-related cases.
Hubert Wayne Nicholson Jr., 38, of Leader Lane in Hoffman, was arrested by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office for over 60 sex-related crimes involving juveniles.
According to reports from the Sheriff’s Office, the report was opened after receiving notification from the district attorney’s office informing them that information was available from the Department of Social Services regarding criminal acts performed by Nicholson.
The acts in question, prior to the information’s release, could not be substantiated. The criminal charges could not be authenticated in earlier investigations by the Sheriff’s Office due to unattainable information.
Nicholson was served with 22 warrants charging him with first-degree sexual offense with a child, indecent liberties with a child and felony disseminate obscenity against for/against two juvenile females, according to reports.
His bond was set at $50,000 and is currently detained at the Richmond County Jail.
Other arrests reported by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office include:
n James Carl Steen, 58, Louis Breeden Boulevard, Hamlet, was arrested for felony manufacturing marijuana, felony possession with intent to sell or distribute marijuana and felony maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances. Bond was set at $10,000.
n Gerald Christopher West, 24, Benji Road, Rockingham, was arrested for felony larceny and felony obtaining property by false pretense. He was released with a written promise to appear in court.
n Louis Michael Murphy, 39, Whitney Lane, Rockingham, was arrested for felony possession with intent to sell distribute marijuana, felony maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond was set at $2,500.
