A Rockingham man was arrested by Richmond County Sheriff’s Deputies on Oct. 21 after the suspect was shot by the homeowner of a house he had attempted to break into in September.

Bobby Eugene Eaves, 32, Deerfield Drive, Rockingham, was arrested by sheriff’s deputies for felony first-degree burglary, felony habitual felon, misdemeanor assault on female (domestic violence) and misdemeanor larceny.

According to police reports, a homeowner on Hollywood Lane was startled in his sleep when he heard the sound of a window shattering around 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 20.

The victim got out of bed when his niece came into his room and alerted him that Eaves was attempting to break into the home.

The victim picked-up his gun and walked into the living room.

As the victim entered the living room, Eaves kicked in the front door of the house and stepped inside with a brick in-hand.

The homeowner than shot Eaves -fearing for his life, according to reports.

EMS was contacted and Eaves was transported to FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital.

After treatment, Eaves was charged with the earlier stated offenses.

Eaves’ bond was set at $250,000 and is currently in the Richmond County Jail.

Other arrests reported by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office include:

n Jason Alexander Quick, 25, Daniels Street, Hamlet, was arrested for felony breaking and entering and felony larceny after breaking and entering. His bond was set at $25,000.

n Dennis Gregory Quick, 28, Daniels Street, Hamlet, was arrested for felony breaking and entering and felony larceny. His bond was set at $10,000.

n Christopher Dale Rainwater, 36, Sleepy Hollow Drive, Hamlet, was arrested for felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to seriously injure. His bond was set at $10,000.
