The North Carolina School Report Card for Richmond County Schools will be released Thursday.
The Report Card highlights RCS for the 2008-2009 school year, and includes important information about school and student performance, class sizes, attendance, school safety, school facilities, instructional resources and teacher quality.
“The N.C. School Report Cards also include our standings within the federal Adequate Yearly Progress targets, and the state accountability program, ABCs of Public Education.” Steve Lear, Director of Testing and Accountability, said. “Report card data is available for each of our schools, for the school district and for the state’s education system as a whole.”
Each RCS student will receive a hard copy of his or her school’s report card to share with his or her family at home. Copies of the district report card will be available in every school’s front office. Beginning Thursday, the complete North Carolina Report Card will also available online at www.ncreportcards.org. A two-page summary, the Report Card Snapshot, is also available at the site.
“We want all stakeholders to be well-informed about our schools.” Ashley Simmons, Public Information Officer said. “It is important for parents and community members to note that while the numbers in the Report Cards are important indicators of how our schools and students are performing, we consider parent and community involvement equally important. Although we are not able to measure involvement in the same terms that we measure testing and other information, we recognize how vital it is to the success of our students, staff and entire school system.”
