In celebration of the Seaboard Festival, the Humane Society of Richmond County animal shelter will be closed to the public on Saturday, Oct. 31.

A select group of adoptable animals will be available for viewing at the HSRC Seaboard Festival booth in front of Hamlet City Hall from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. A variety of pet supplies and toys as well as the new HSRC "green" T-shirts will be available for purchase at the booth from 9 a.m. -5 p.m.

The shelter will be open to the public Sunday, Nov. 1 from 1-4 p.m. For more information, contact the animal shelter at 895-0335.

In the event of an animal control emergency, please contact the Richmond County Sheriff's Office at 997-8283 or dial 911. The dispatcher will notify the on-call Animal Control Officer. In the city of Rockingham, call 895-2468 for the Rockingham Police Animal Control Officer-on-duty.

Also, due to a low turnout of players, the HSRC’s Putt for Paws Golf Tournament originally scheduled for Nov. 6 has been postponed until Friday April 9 at the Richmond Pines Country Club.

For information on the tournament, sponsorship or team registrations, please contact Candy Bacon at 895-0335.
