Grant awards for sewer improvements and discussion concerning wastewater regionalization with Ellerbe dominate the agenda of Rockingham City Council’s meeting tonight at city hall.
The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m.
The city will officially announce it has been awarded an $800,000 Community Development Block Grant to fund East Rockingham sewer improvements in the Jefferson Park neighborhood.
The funding comes from the North Carolina Department of Commerce, and is made possible by stimulus funding, according to a letter from the state.
“We are pleased to support community development efforts in East Rockingham’s Sewer Project, Jefferson Park project,” the letter reads. “The Division of Community Assistance, which administers the regular CDBG program, will contact you about implementing your grant.”
The council is also poised to approve a grant agreement with the GoldenLEAF Foundation for more than $660,000 to be used for the East Rockingham Sewer Project.
