I would like to thank Dr. Norris and the members of the Richmond County School board for allowing the people in the community as well as the East Rockingham Mens Club to have a part in naming the new school on Chalk road. On behalf of the Mens Club I think it is fitting for the new school to be named after East Rockingham. We are very proud of our community and we take pride in what we do. Thanks again Mike Burns president of the East Rockingham Mens Club. “Working for a better community”

Don't look down ur nose at anyone! You may find urself down hill, plus we all came from dirt, some may be richer , poor, or in the middle, don't matter. I've been there! What maid our ecnomy bad? High prices, cost of living, no Jobs, and now we all got to pay more for everything, so our Government can build USA back Up. Solution? Lower prices, lower cost of living, open up buildings for new jobs. Wages higher, etc.. Then More money, more buying, new homes, NO MOre HUNGER!! Less Crime..happier folks. Now, My kids once went to west R'ham, hasd a time latter learning, they had two teachers per class, Yet they ended up at Ashley Chapel. Yet, They had one Teacher, more one on one, and THey done great! So, requardless of what You think. There are many good teachers, some NOT! There is good and bad in all things. Don't be suprized!! If Some are not HAppy with things about our schools, etc. We somehow have to stand up and speak out all together. Not 1 or 2,... many. If any concerns similiar to ours/mine. Because I want a to speak up.lol.. My e-mail is KnightMoves28379@yahoo.com THZ.

OK, Let see if I can shorten my words. I myself was raised all over Rockingham, I now live In East Rockingham that at one time was the BAck Bone of our county. I lived In Plantation park, other nicer areas. TAxes too High, some...folks were butts. Its not where U live, what U got, It how Ya live and act. A poor person is just as good as a rich person. Poor have stronger values.I helped build, Rockingham In Road Construction, since 1977. Seen alot of good and bad. Yes, In East Rockingham, some homes need repair, tore down, new built, Mills re-opened. Why Build new? It's a waiste. New School, Chalk rd. WHY? One day Its a new 9th grade academy..ummm next different. Yet we have only ONe Academy for 9th graders, inwhich alot have to travel miles to get there. change is not always better. Older schools need repair, parking lots revised, Rohanan schools need HELP! As far as roads, trying to get into driveway to pick up kids, Umm Doing a two way drive in , yet into a one lane out. I See and have thought about new plans for area's , yet I am ony One man. Honestly, some of our kids, either can't aford to buy lunch amoung other issues, or the Board doesn't help in financial area's as good as they should, due lower cost in lunch for our children, Ins. and more..I won't get in to. What I also notice is that many kids at many times don't eat! yet, They have to sit in lunch area's watching others Eat..HOW MANY can see that is WRONG. Some don't wanna bring lunch due..Can't go to lockers before or after, so they have to carry bags all day? Plus Kids are imbarrased to bring a lunch, due others pick on em. At Times by the time others kids get to lunch, Food is out, menu changed..something else given, even snacks .. EXAMPLE.. combo's with milk, asmall portion of fruit, piece of meat, and combo's. We all pay a fortune, in clothing, travel, school fee's etc..yet county builds at wrong time and place for the wrong reasons. I'm one, will tell ya like it is! THZ, Knight

proudofERHAM,your view from the horse must be cloudy. I have 2 kids currently attending rohanen schools, live in East Rockingham, attend my neighborhood church and yes I take my family to the East Rockingham pool, park and senior center. My husband plays softball in the fields. We support of fire department and local cubscouts. But you fail to realize that the new school is combining Cordova elementary and 2 other schools. There was simply no reason to change the name from Chalk Road.

Parentof3, Frist let me state that I do not live or have ever lived and do not have any family ties in East Rockingham and no I did not attend Rohanen. You say to STOP LOOKING DOWN YOUR NOSE on our students. It is very eveident that you are LOOKING DOWN YOUR NOSE on the people that live in East Rockingham just because they live there. Some of the people thta live in ERham. may not have as much as you have (money, home, ect.) but have made alot of improvements. I bet that you don't have any problem using their park for you children to play or have parties at. So it sound like the big problem is that you just don't wasnt your children going to a ERham school.

Rohanen primary school has many great teachers that work closely with their students. Rohanen has many nationally certified teachers with masters degrees but unfornately don't have enough resources for their students. The students of Monroe Avenue and Rohanen Primary should not be punished for decisions their parents made. I believe using the name of EAST ROCKINGHAM is giving these students a bad name in their home county because of the state of the homes in the area. There was nothing wrong in using the name Chalk Road Elementary as we have a Washington Street School. STOP LOOKING DOWN on our students. That includes the students at Transitional School. If you want our county to grow believe in all the students.

If you took pride in what you do, you would ban together and clean up east rockingham. I have never seen so many run down houses in my life. Clean up the drug trailers on the main road. Yes the cops know they are there. They come and go all times of night. Help clean up instead of being proud of a school that didn't need to be built. Maybe putting E.R. in the city limits will do the trick.

First of all lets thank Mr Mclean for his die hard effort to name from the get go before the project begain hip hip hurray.I guess his presents in front of the school board shook them up so bad they had to go along with his idea. Why not to mention his history with the school system MMMMMM??????.Why I thought the county was suppose to be moving forward instead of going backerd.Hey Mike we all know the rich history behind your community and thats great, but dont immplement it on others let it go!!!!
