Ella Benson Paul went home to be with the Lord, October 6, 2009.

She was born in Sumter SC to Marie Pearl and William Benson. Ella was preceded in death by her husband Mack Paul Sr; brothers Lee, Streetie, Gene, and Elis Benson and sisters, Bessie Stewart, Annie Brady and Evelyn Grooms.

She is survived by one son, Mack Paul Jr. and wife Myrtle, three daughters Peggy Harding and husband Norman, Pat Monroe and husband Mark, Pearl Cain and husband Jimmy; Two brothers, Steve Paul and J.R. Benson and one sister, Edna Conners.

Ella had 11 grandchildren who adored her; Debbie Ammons and husband Rickey, Lori Turnage, Robin Terry and husband John, Lisa Stewart and husband Lee, Joey Bostick and wife Norma Jean, Matthew Gainey and wife Sandy, Jimmy Cain, Joanna Ruiz and husband Tony, Travis Cain and wife Lisa, Macaila and McKena Paul.

She had 14 great grandchildren, Jamie and Josh Ammons, Terry and Leigh-Ann Turnage, Selena Ortiz, Heather, Trey and Monica Terry, Jordan Stewart, Brittany and Dylan Bostick, Emily Gainey,

Ryan Ruzi, Morgan and Casee Cain, DennaJade, Matthew Haywood, Casey Dawkins, and Nate Dawkins.

Grandma Ellie was blessed to live a long good life and to see five generations; she had eight great-great grandchildren; Jay and Robert Ammons, her namesake Ella Popowich, Logan Turnage,

Skylar Watts and Jameson Quick, J.T, Terry and Macy Quick.

A homecoming service will be held at Harrington Funeral Home Chapel Friday, Oct. 9, 2009 at 2 p.m. in memory of Ella, everyone is asked to wear a little red, it was her favorite color and would make her smile. Rev. Bill Vaughn and Rev. Carol Tyner are officiating. Visitation will be at Harrington Funeral Home in Hamlet on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009 from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.

The family would like to thank Richmond County Hospice and a special thank-you to Frankie and Sinatra’s for their loving care.
