The votes are still being tabulated from Dobbins Heights Tuesday municipal elections, but as of Wednesday morning it was clear that Angeline David has retained her seat on the town council.

There were two seats up for grabs.

The winner of the other seat is still unknown as the Richmond County Board of Elections will count five provisional votes Thursday afternoon.

“As of this morning, there is a clear winner in Angeline David,” County Elections Director Connie Kelly said. “No one else has a majority of the votes.”

David carried 105 of the 127 ballots cast, while five provisional votes are still pending.

Kelly said the second highest vote-getter at this point is Romeo Jones, who is currently four votes shy of a majority.

Trailing the two top candidates are James Whitt, who currently has 26 votes, and incumbent Curtis Ratliff, who currently has 24 votes.

“Should Jones fall short of a majority, he’d be in a position for Whitt or Ratliff to call for a run-off in November,” Kelly explained.

In order to obtain a majority of the votes, Jones will have to carry four of the five provisional ballots.
