LAURINBURG – The St. Andrews Presbyterian College Concert and Chamber Choirs will present their fall concert on Oct. 19 in Avinger Auditorium beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The performance is free and open to the public.

“The choir enjoys this opportunity to share their abilities with the local community,” said Dr. William McConnell, conductor and associate professor of music. “We are especially honored to be joined by the Scotland Singers from the Scotland High School for Visual and Performing Arts.”

Scotland Singers are conducted by Lynn Blake. Jonathan McRae is principal of Scotland High School for Visual and Performing Arts.

In addition to selections presented by the individual choirs, all of the choirs will collaborate in singing, “This is my Song” based on Jean Sibelius’ tune Finlandia.

“The St. Andrews choirs will be performing music from various composers and style periods,” said McConnell. “Composers range from early baroque composer Alessandro Scarlatti to gospel composer Keith Hampton and pop composer Billy Joel.”

The St. Andrews choirs are accompanied by Sean A. Moore, instructor of music.
