Man reports Hamlet robbery

A man on Hamlet Lake Court reported being robbed at gun point by two men on Sept. 21 while outside of a friend’s home.

According to reports from the Hamlet Police Department, two men entered the home on Hamlet Lake Court to use the telephone. In the report, there was no mention of any suspicious activity while inside.

After they were finished using the phone, they began to leave the home, but on the way out, forced one the men in the home outside.

Upon leaving, one of the men attempted to search the victim’s pockets, yet the victim struggled until the aggressor yelled for the other to come over and help him.

The second man held a gun to the victim’s face, at which point, the victim ceased struggling.

The two men searched his pockets and stole $18 in cash from his person and left the scene.

Other incidents reported by the Hamlet Police Department include:

n Someone on Seaboard Street reported their car was broken into and a $300 car stereo was stolen.

n A homeowner on Edens Street reported the theft of two bracelets from their home. The property lost is valued at approximately $550.

Arrests reported by the Hamlet Police Department include:

n Diamond Wall, 16, Thomas Street, Hamlet, was arrested for misdemeanor first-degree trespassing. He was released with a written promise to appear in court.

n Christopher Andrew Swails, 17, Miniturn Avenue, was arrested for misdemeanor second-degree trespassing and misdemeanor injury to real property. He was released with a written promise to appear in court.

n Olaf Arthur Williams, 45, North Long Drive, Rockingham, was arrested for felony burglary, felony larceny and felony robbery. His bond was set at $25,000.

n James Woodrow Lynch II, 23, Hwy. 381, Hamlet, was arrested for misdemeanor larceny.

n Malik A. Monroe, 40, Monroe Avenue, Hamlet, was arrested for misdemeanor disorderly conduct. His bond was set at $500.

Arrests reported by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office include:

n Thomas Jay Prevatte, 30, Queens Road, Laurinburg, was arrested for two counts or felony larceny of a motor vehicle and two counts of felony obtaining property by false pretense.

n Lashonda Kay Clark, 22, Queens Road, Laurinburg, was arrested for two counts or felony larceny of a motor vehicle and two counts of felony obtaining property by false pretense.

n Chad Leon Pearson, Forrest Street, High Point, was arrested for misdemeanor possession of a stolen firearm and misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon. His bond was set at $5,000.

n Tonray Juma Marshall, 31, 2nd Street, Ellerbe, was arrested for felony breaking and entering. Bond was set at $10,000.

n Nina Monique Smith, 28, Caple Drive, Ellerbe, was arrested for felony possession with intent to sell or distribute marijuana and misdemeanor possession drug paraphernalia. He was released with a written promise to appear in court.
