At the Richmond County Board of Commissioners meeting Monday night, the commissioners will hold a public hearing for a request to rezone property next to the Rockingham raceway for a 4-wheeler sand drag-racing strip.
The applicant, David Kumm, is requesting the property be rezoned to highway commercial; surrounding properties are already zoned highway commercial. Both the planning board and board of zoning and adjustment approved the rezoning for this use.
Also on the agenda is the request for approval of a resolution authorizing the county to proceed with issuance of the remaining $13 million in school construction bonds, approval of a budget amendment to reflect the decrease in the 2009-2010 criminal justice partnership program budget, approval of the water treatment plant capital project budget ordinance, and approval of a budget amendment to reflect a 5 percent reduction in salary line-item for the department of juvenile justice and delinquency prevention.
