LAURINBURG — Scotland’s Aaron Stevens scored off a corner kick for the game’s only goal to help the Scots to a 1-0 victory over Richmond Wednesday night.

Stevens’ goal came with around 24 minutes left in the match.

“There was a miscommunication between a defender and our goalie and the ball rolled into the net,” Richmond coach Bennie Howard said.

The loss kept the Raiders winless in Southeastern Conference play at 0-3-1 and dropped them to 7-5-1 overall.

“The boys played well, we were just unable to put the ball in the net,” Howard said.

The Raiders return to action 6 p.m. Saturday at Mount Pleasant.

n In the junior varsity game, Scotland defeated Richmond 1-0 to drop the JV Raiders to 2-5 overall and 0-3 in conference.
