Oct. 2 is right around the bend and the Chamber of Commerce is putting the finishing touches on this year’s Rally at the Rock.

“We’re expecting at least 35 cars this year,” Emily Tucker, president of the Richmond County Chamber of Commerce said. “And it’s not too late to get in.”

According to Tucker, the Rally at the Rock already has about 20 cars signed up to participate in the rally, but if it’s anything like last year’s crowd, many will sign up at the last minute.

The Rally will last approximately three hours and will cover several miles of Richmond County roads.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun,” Tucker said. “They’re going to get a lot of exercise this year too.”

The chamber has already purchased their Rally at the Rock t-shirts for this year’s event with the sponsors logos on the shirt and will be given to participants.

Many of the volunteers and sponsors of the event will assist the drivers at the checkpoints and help them with finding their way.

The track mapped out for this year’s rally will be different from last year’s, taking drivers through Rockingham, Ellerbe, Hoffman and Hamlet.

The rally will wrap-up at the Cruise-In in Hamlet after the scavenger hunt.

“This is a great opportunity if you want to learn more about Richmond County,” Tucker said. “What better way to end it than at a Cruise-In?”
