The Lady Raiders (9-2, 4-0) down the Lady Patriots 25-12, 26-24 and 25-22. Michelle Brown had 15 service points, while Rebecca Kinsey added 10 in the victory.
“This was the best we played all year,” Richmond coach Wendy Wallace said. “We played hard and focused. Hopefully we can keep this up on Thursday.”
Richmond returns to the court at 6 p.m. Thursday on the road against Scotland County.
n In the junior varsity game, the Lady Patriots kept the Lady Raiders winless in SEC play with a 25-16, 19-25 and 25-17 victory.
Marissa McRae led the way in the loss with nine service points. The defeat dropped the Richmond junior varsity team to 3-5 overall, 0-4 in the conference.
Richmond XC runners finish second, third
PEMBROKE — The Richmond Senior men’s cross country team finished third with 90 points and the women’s team placed second with 50 points in a Southeastern Conference meet hosted by Purnell Swett High School Tuesday afternoon.
Pinecrest’s cross country teams swept both meets. The Patriots won the men’s meet with 24 points, followed by Swett with 47 points and Richmond was last with 90 points.
The Raiders had five runners last week finish in the top 10 at Hinson Lake, helping the men’s team take first place. But Eli Locklear’s second place finish was the only top 10 finish this week as he clocked in with a time of 18:18.
In the women’s meet, Pinecrest earned 15 points, while Richmond had 50 points and Purnell Swett finished with 95 points. Tynika Little had the fastest time for Richmond with a time of 29:35.
The Richmond cross country teams next conference meet is 5 p.m. Tuesday at Lumberton.
