A teenage girl on McDonald Avenue in Hamlet reported an attempted rape by an unidentified male around 2 a.m. on Sept. 8, according to reports from the Hamlet Police Department.
Prior to the incident, the girl had gone to bed and turned out the lights when she heard a noise from somewhere in the house. She went to investigate the noise when she saw a man standing in the kitchen.
The man rushed her and took her into the bedroom, where he threw her on the bed. During the struggle, the man held a knife to her throat and began to threaten her.
She managed to break free and escape into the bathroom where she locked herself away from the man.
The assailant left soon after.
Her brother later entered the room, where he found the girl locked in the bathroom. He alerted their parents who than contacted the Hamlet Police Department.
Other incidents reported to the Hamlet Police Department:
n A car on Pine Street was vandalized and the owner’s dog stolen from the back of the truck. Vehicle damage is estimated to be $1,500 and the dog is worth $100.
n Someone attempted to steal a $500 air-conditioning unit from an apartment complex on Washington Avenue.
n A vehicle on Hamlet Lake Court had a passenger side window broken. Damage was estimated to be $300.
n A home on Washington Street was broken into after someone pried the back door open with a knife and a $300 computer was stolen and $50 worth of CDs.
Arrests reported by the Hamlet Police Department include:
n Toni Marie Everett, 36, Deanna Drive, Hamlet, was arrested for felony common law robbery and misdemeanor assault and battery. Her bond was set at $5,000.
n Eric Dean Young, 37, Champlain Street, Hamlet, was arrested for communicating threats. He was released with a written promise to appear in court.
n Rosalyn L Leak, 48, Susan Road, Hamlet, was arrested for misdemeanor failure to return rented property.
n Timothy Dewayne Smith, 24, Roosevelt Street, Laurinburg, was arrested for misdemeanor communicating threats.
Incidents reported to the Rockingham Police Department include:
n A pharmacy on Rockingham Road reported someone obtained prescription oxycodone under false pretenses.
n A woman on Shannon Drive was found dead in her apartment. Cause of death has yet to be determined.
n A business on Broad Avenue reported $28 worth of alcohol being stolen from the store.
n A business on Cauthen Drive reported an individual stole $13 worth of alcohol from them.
n Someone reported two people tampering with cable wires outside their house on Scales Street.
n Someone on Armstead Street reported that they were threatened at knife point during an altercation and chased them around the area for 30 to 40 minutes.
Arrests reported by the Rockingham Police Department include:
n Kaslo Devon McKinnon, 27, Spring Street, Hamlet, was arrested for misdemeanor failure to appear. Bond was set at $1,000.
n Maurice Michael Conway, 26, Morgan Circle, Rockingham, was arrested for misdemeanor larceny. He was released with a written promise to appear in court.
n Juan Ricardo Urquin Morales, 24, Pickett Street, Rockingham, was arrested for misdemeanor assault on a female. He was released with a written promise to appear in court.
n Myrna Ann Troxler, 35, Richmond Road, Rockingham, was arrested for misdemeanor failure to appear. Her bond was set at $525.
n Gerron Levare Foster, 29, Waymond Chapel Road, Hamlet, was arrested for second-degree trespassing. Bone was set at $500.
n Steven Casablanca, 22, Safie 5th Street, Rockingham, was arrested for misdemeanor no operator’s license, misdemeanor failure to stop at scene of an accident and misdemeanor careless and reckless driving. Bond was set at $1,000.
n Billy Jack Hunt, 31, Caroline Street, Rockingham, was arrested for misdemeanor assault and battery. Bone was set at $1,000.
n Michael Maree, 39, Garrett Street, Rockingham, was arrested for misdemeanor protective order violation.
