With three more homes set for construction and the application process for new homes now under way, the staff and volunteers of Habitat are gearing up for its first Holes for Habitat Golf Tournament, hosted by Exit Realty Platinum.
Chris Carpenter, Richmond County Area Manager for Habitat, said Tim Hayden, owner of Exit Realty Platinum had the idea for a golf tournament before Carpenter even started his job in June.
“Being in the business of real estate through both sales and construction, we feel it is our responsibility to help Habitat for Humanity get re-established in Richmond County,” Hayden said in a press release. “It is important for us that we have a positive impact not only in our business, but in our community as well. What better way than to help Habitat?”
The golf tournament is set up to have 23 teams, four players per team. The cost per team is $200 and the first teams to sign up and pay their fee, get the team spots.
It is a captain’s choice tournament and there will be lunch, refreshments during play, prizes for winners, closest to the pin prizes and hole in one prizes. There will also be a raffle drawing immediately after the tournament.
“Habitat for Humanity of the N.C. Sandhils is excited about the new push to strengthen our presence in Richmond County,” Carpenter said. “However, with that push it takes a lot of comunity support. It is a wonderful thing to have Exit Realty Platinum step up and give their support to Habitat. It should be an exciting day and we hope to make it an annual event.
Carpenter said they are still seeking sponsors for the event, as well as players.
“It will take many supporters to enable this event to be the best it possibly can be, and all proceeds go directly to Habitat to be used solely in Richmond County,” Carpenter said.
