The Criminal Investigations Division of the Rockingham Police Department recently received information on a counterfeiting ring that could potentially be spreading into the area.

A local business in the community received information through a corporate news letter and shared the information with police.

“Due to the sensitive nature of the information I am unable to release names at this time, but current information lists the prime suspects as three Hispanic males ranging in age from their mid 30’s to mid 50’s,” said Detective George C. Gillenwater.

“Continue to utilize the tools that are available to you to identify counterfeit currency such as the money tester pens, and if you suspect counterfeit money please contact the Rockingham Police Department.”

Other resources to help with the identification of counterfeit money include the U.S. Secret Service web site, as well as the Rockingham Police Department’s web site: www.gorockinghampd.com.
