Rockingham police didn’t have to wait long to make an arrest at a traffic checkpoint Sunday.

The traffic stop was set up at the corner of Lawrence and Leak Streets about 5 p.m. When a blue 2008 Ford Focus pulled up, Officer Lee Daily noticed a strong odor of marijuana. It was the only the second car to go through the checkpoint.

Marijuana worth $10,000 was seized and four people arrested.

One of the suspects, Danny Moore Jr., 29, of Ann Street, Rockingham, was already on probation. He pleaded guilty just over three weeks ago to felony marijuana charges. He has an arrest record dating back to 2003 and now faces new charges of possession of marijuana with intent to sell and deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Also arrested were Jamie Ott, 24, of Gathings Street, Hamlet, Jennifer Taylor, 20, of Ann Street, Rockingham and Moore’s wife, Summer Dawn Moore, 25.

Also seized was $677 in cash from Danny Moore. Summer Moore also faces charges for having two methadone tablets on her person.

Ott, who was driving the vehicle, was jailed under $35,000 bond. Danny Moore had bond placed at $10,000. Bond for the other two was $5,000.
