He was born on July 20, 1931 in Hamlet, son of the late Theodore and Julia Ann Everett Smith.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Hamlet, with the Rev. Grainger C. Davis, Pastor. Burial will follow in the Richmond Memorial Park Cemetery, Rockingham.
Public viewing will be held Monday from 1-5 p.m. and family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Hamlet.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma Smith of the home; four children, Melvis Taylor of Chicago, IL, Senthy Smith of Charlotte, Sylvia O’Neal of Fayetteville, and Hosea Smith, Jr. of Virginia; 11 grandchildren and 18 great- grandchildren.
Nelson Funeral Service of Rockingham is in charge of services.
