Sandhills Regional Medical Center’s surgical team is growing with the addition of Timothy Antonio Jessie, M.D., FACS.

Board certified in general surgery, Jessie officially joined the Sandhills family July 1 at Sandhills Surgical, located at 108 Endo Lane, Suite 1, Hamlet.

“Dr. Jessie brings with him an enthusiasm for his work that will complement our existing staff at Sandhills Surgical,” said Andy Davis, SHRMC CEO. “We are excited about his drive and welcome him to our diverse, multi-specialty group.”

Dr. Jessie received his Doctorate of Medicine from East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine in 1999. He completed his general surgery internship and residency at Summa Health System/Akron City Hospital in Ohio.

He is not a stranger to this area as he attended high school in Lumberton, where he graduated as class valedictorian of Magnolia High School in 1991. He then attended Fayetteville State University, where he earned a bachelor’s in biology, and graduated summa cum laude.

After his residency, Dr. Jessie worked as a general surgeon with the ProMedica Physicians Group in South Fostoria, Ohio, and later at Jessie General Surgery in Lumberton.

Prior to joining Sandhills Surgical, Dr. Jessie served as a locums general surgeon at various locations including Franklin and Williamston, NC; Portsmouth, Ohio; and for the U.S. Army Kwajalein Atoll, Republic of the Marshall Islands.

His most recent research and training experience was as a colorectal surgery research fellow for the Department of Colorectal Surgery, Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, Ohio.

He also currently serves as a case reviewer with the N.C. Medical Board, and is a fellow with the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Jessie is married to Alisa Dawn Ingram, M.D., who is a family practice physician at Joel Health Clinic at Fort Bragg.

“I'm happy to be here in Hamlet,” said Dr. Jessie. “Everyone at my office and over at the hospital has been very welcoming and helpful as I get acclimated. I'm looking forward to helping as many patients as I can and doing good, quality work."
