The purpose of the forum is to get public feedback on ways to increase the literacy rate in the county.
Board of Directors member Mike Railton explained the Literacy Council has already identified several impediments to non-readers or slow-readers receiving assistance, but want the public’s opinion of how the services could be better delivered.
Among the things hindering that delivery, the Literacy Council identified a lack of transportation and child care so people can participate and the fact some who aren’t strong readers may be intimidated to take classes on a college campus.
