Leak Street High School to host summer basketball league

Leak Street High School will sponsor a summer basketball league beginning on July 21.

The cost is $25 per child, but if two or more children from the same household sign up, then the cost is $20 per child. The age groups are 6-9, 10-13 and 14-16.

In addition, coaches are needed for the league.

Rockingham Parks and Recreation

to begin taking soccer signups

The Rockingham Parks and Recreation will accept soccer league registrations on July 15 until Aug. 17.

To be eligible to participate, a child must be at least four-years-old and not turn 16 on or before Aug. 1.

For city residents, the cost is $20 plus $6 if not currently insured by Parks and Recreation. For non-city residents, the cost is $30 plus $6 if not currently insured by Parks and Recreation.

Additional youth golf clinics slated

for Richmond Pines

Naveen Reddy, the head golf professional at Richmond Pines Country Club, has scheduled more junior golf clinics this summer.

The next basic junior golf camp session will take place July 20-22 from 1-4 p.m. The advanced junior camp will run July 13-15 from 9 a.m.-noon.

A men’s golf clinic is scheduled for July 10-12, while a women’s golf clinic is set for July 16-18. Both clinics are from 5 - 8 p.m.

The cost of the clinics is $60 for members and $70 for non-members.

Hamlet accepting soccer registrations

The City of Hamlet is accepting soccer applications for the 2009 season. The cost is $30 per child and registration will continue until Aug. 7.

Late registration will be from Aug. 10-14 with an addition $10 late fee.

The leagues will be broken down to 4-6, 7-9, 10-12 and 13-15-year-old age groups. Participants will be placed in a league based on their age as of April 30.

FirstHealth to offer summer camps

FirstHealth will offer the following summer camps:

n Basketball Boys & Girls Camp for ages 6- 18 will be held July 13-17 from 8 a.m. to noon. The camp will be run by Nellie and Frank Harrington. The cost is $50.

n Fitness / Sport Camp class will be held for children ages 8-12 on July 27-31 and Aug. 10-14. the cost is $45 for members and $55 for non-members.
