Arrests for driving while impaired by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office increased to 18 during June, Sheriff Dale Furr said.

That was up from eight arrests in May and 11 in April.

Many of those arrests are the result of the work of the deputies assigned to the Governor’s Highway Safety Program.

Those same deputies were involved in the writing of 84 speeding citations in June, 96 in May and 70 in April.
