County must find a way to help teens, women in need

Dear Editor,

Can someone please tell me where help is for the homeless women in Richmond County?

Can someone tell me where help is for our teen-agers who are in crisis?

The Domestic shelter is ONLY for women who are in an abusive relationship and thank God for them...but what about ALL the other women?

I have talked and asked for help for women and teens. Everyone I talk to says it is hopeless. Surely I am not alone in this desire God has placed in my heart!

If there is anyone in this county or OUT of this county that can offer ideas, help, anything to get something started, I beg you, please contact me at 910-557-5137.

I am so disappointed in my county for not stepping up and taking a simple human interest in our homeless women and our teens who are in crisis!

I do not mean to offend anyone but if the shoe fits so be it. We can afford to add another ABC store in this county, but no shelter for women, no crisis center for teens?

If someone has a building that’s not being used ...be a huge blessing and offer it for this cause. I pray that some people will read this and will be God’s hand extended. God Bless.

Lisa Fore

You know, I have been keeping up with this letter since i wrote it and I watched it quickly change deep concern about the homeless to bitter bickering back and forth between folks about politics, who voted for who, whose fault what is, and I got sick to my stomach! I do not care who voted for who or who likes or dislikes who on here! Can people EVER come together just ONCE for the these people. People have lost jobs, homes and some are having to lose their children! Stop judging and argueing! I am sure all of you are very smart people. Why not use that "for such a time as this" to come together for a solution! God Bless all of you.

Jethro - Sarah Palin was not running for president. And those who would vote for her were far from being morons. The only thing that would stop me from voting for her as president if she were to run is that I believe a leader's children should be a good example to other young people.

Anonymous- did I say that I was against homeless shelters? For years we've had homes which aided unwed mothers to become good moral and productive citizens. That's a good thing!

Further, what Richmond County does is up to them. If they can afford it, more power to them.

So Bonnie, I assume that you are against a homeless shelter for women in Richmond Co. That is the jest of your blogs on this site. Question is: Why would it be any of your business since you do not live in the county or even the STATE?

BUTT OUT!!!!!!!!!!

Oh! and what about the morons that voted for Obama???

I thought 'decent morals' was not important to you, anon. He has done the right thing with his political decisions.

Not only the Sanford guy, but also the morons who voted him into office lets not forget them! Maybe a mental health check would help not only him but also most of the S.C. Republican party!

Go Lisa it is a good cause if you can put a few lives back on the right track you have my support all the way! I do have a degree and it is in the medical profession. I got it the hard way when I was young enough to help make a difference in the world, and tried to do so. As far as military spending, we are spending much too much on the military and not enough for health care, education, and mental health. Look at the history of Russia that is how they failed. It had nothing to do with RR! Too much spending on the military is why their economy failed. Military spending combined with very poor economic policies, and ignorance of health care including mental health has put this country a long way down the same path.

Well anon, there is no better way to spend our tax dollars than for the cause of freedom. That's what the Fourth of July is all about. It took wars to gain freedom and it's taken wars to maintain it. Up until this administration, freedom was at the top of our priority list.

Thanks for the phychology analogy. Where did you get your degree?

More good Christian advice from Bonnie Wheeler! Maybe the reason there isn't more facilities available is that under the last presidential administration Approx 58% of the tax money in this country was spent on military spending. (CNN sorry I don't remember the exact figure it was over 50%) Of course Bonnie condones this spending and wants the soldiers to hand out Bibles in their spare time. Who knows maybe we can save a soul or twoin the middle east and turn them into a born again Bonnie Wheeler! Just what the world needs another narrow minded fool!

Why not set up counselors to teach them how to assume the responsibilty of their actions. We have drug abuse centers And AAs for those on drugs and alcohol, it is a shame that centers are not set up to counsel those who do not know how to assume responsiblity in other areas of their lives as well. The 12 step program works for everyone.

I agree! It's a shame that their is no place where pregnant teenagers can go to get a pat on the back and get info needed to show them how to get the most out of welfare. It's a crying shame that these kids have no place to hang out so they can get pregnant or any other kind of troulble. As for the adult women,if you have enough kids you can get a habitat home. Don't worry citizens of Richmond County, you don't have to work or finish shool to achieve the American Dream. Taxpayers will ALWAYS be there to bail YOU out of whatever trouble YOU get yourself into.

I agree with you 100% Lisa. Some one has "stepped up"... YOU! Therefore I nominate Lisa Fore as the leader of this movement. She has concern, She seems sincere and I feel that she will do a good job. All in Favor say Aye.

There you go Lisa. It is not just the County's issue it is all of our issue and now you are the focal point. The Spokesperson. Find out all you can, bring it up to the local leaders at thier monthly meetings, go to the civic clubs, Talk to the church leaders and school board. It will take time, but I think you have the stamina to make your dream happen. Thanks for stepping up. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!
