Richmond County Schools to offer Bus Driver Training will be provided July 7, 8 and 10 at Richmond County Schools Central Office Annex Building on 522 W. Hamlet Ave. in Hamlet.

This is the old location of the district’s central office.

Classes will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 2:30 p.m. each day. Attendance is required all three days.

Basic requirements to become certified are:

n Candidates must be 18 years of age and have driven for at least six months.

n No driver may be utilized who received a ticket for a moving violation within the last 12 months or who was involved in an accident in which the driver was legally responsible. No candidate may have more than three moving violations in the last five years.

n Health in general should be good with no history of heart trouble, high or low blood pressure, epilepsy, diabetes, fainting or dizzy spells, addiction to alcohol or drugs, or any physical or mental disability or disease that would impair driving ability.

n Must have at least 20/40 vision in both eyes. Anyone with vision in only one eye cannot be licensed.

n Must have no record of criminal conviction.
