The Richmond County Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Educational Department, under the direction of Chairperson Tiny Martin, held its annual Academic Awards program on May 29 for kindergarten through fifth grades and May 30 for sixth through 12th grades.

The event recognizes all children who have earned A-B Honors at their local schools. More than 2,000 students were given certificates this year. State NAACP College/Youth President Robert Cainda was the speaker.
