Did anybody working at the Rockingham Housing Authority read the policy manual or the standard operating procedures? Did anyone on the board read them? Who among these people thought that what they were doing was ethical, including the board?
Were any of these jobs given to family members offered via the application system to the public?
If they were not, then the RHA has violated state and/or federal labor laws.
Are there any whites or other minorities working at RHA or living in the occupied units and if so, at what percent? What did the board know and when? Where was their backbone? Did any board member ever say “you can’t do this!”
Will the current occupants now be audited to see if any of them are in violation?
Who decides who gets an apartment? Is it just one person? This entire scandal goes to show just how some people behave when they get a little power!
Everyone currently working at RHA should be fired immediately.
If they were not part of this family affair, then they knew about it and did nothing.
The entire board should be fired/desolved for not doing their jobs and allowing this to go on.
They were intrusted with the taxpayers money and they failed.
Thank you.

This is only the tip of the iceburg, when it comes to county and city and even state employees, who for the most part suck off the system, and do each other favors. Thank god for a great chief of police who did not take no for an answer from the very ones who thought they were using the system and above the law. If our local officals would only spot check, they would discover many social workers getting kick backs for child placement, and many other things going on in this county that are just plain, fraud. Of course most of these jobs are now controlled by minorities and we arent about to point fingers at them,as we would appear, racist. A really sad state of affairs when the truth is not welcomed.
(Barbara) You also think that the entire board should be fired for not doing their job and allowing this to go on. This is where I totally believe that you are off the mark. I believe the board did do something when they gained full knowledge of this scandal(as you called it). Thus the suspension and firing of Mrs. Ingram. Their doing their job. If you want to point the finger at someone, let's look at previous board members. This just didn't start happening. Former Board members could have nipped this in the bud. Kudos to the present board members for having the courage to address this issue.
I appreciate that you obviously think that some people need to be unemployed. I mean, you spell it out pretty darned clear. Spot on, Ms. Jackson. However, what exactly was done? I haven't been paying attention elsewhere, so I can only attest to your rants - and yes, my dear, you are indeed ranting. I might even call it raving.
Anyway, I think that if they're to be looked at for dismissal, maybe it should be for letting able-bodied people stay in RHA funded places and not work. There is a lot of this going on. It's bad enough that we're supporting single-mothers and their kids - but they're boyfriends and baby-mamas, too?
Yeah - not why I pay my taxes.
