Burning is illegal in Rockingham, and it can be dangerous.
Rockingham Police Department said a 44-year-old man set fire to trash on Armstead Street, Rockingham.
A carbon dioxide cartridge was in the trash.
When it exploded, it caused a severe laceration to the victim’s right leg.
When an officer arrived, he found the exploded cartridge and flesh from man’s leg at the scene.
The victim was taken to FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital for treatment of the wound.
All burning is prohibited in Rockingham. Trash burning is also prohibited throughout Richmond County.

n A Rockingham area woman reported that someone using an Internet transaction removed $670 from her bank account.
n A cell phone valued at $300 was stolen from a visitor to a park in East Rockingham.
n A mail box was reported knocked over on Crestmont Drive, Rockingham.
n A 48-year-old man was stabbed in an arm with a fork by a suspect at a house on Watkins Loop Road, Rockingham.
n A rock was thrown through the window of a vehicle traveling on U.S. 74 Business at Midway Road, Rockingham, causing $150 damage.
n A handgun valued at $230 was stolen from a vehicle parked at a residence on Parsons Road, Ellerbe.
n While parked in a lot at a business on U.S. 220 North, Rockingham, someone did $500 damage to a window of a vehicle.
n In a break-in attempt on Lincoln Avenue, Rockingham, someone did $15 damage to a lock at a house.
n Personal property valued at $1,000 was stolen from a house on Loch Haven Road, Rockingham.
n At a house on Gattis Street, Cordova, someone did $400 damage to a door and stole a washer valued at $250 and a $250 dryer.
n Someone entered a house on Horseshoe Drive, Dobbins Heights, while the resident was asleep and stole $10.
n A house on Meadow Drive, Hamlet, was broken into causing $150 damage to a door, and 265 prescription pills were stolen.
n A television set valued at $2,000 was stolen from a house on Center Street, Cordova.

n A rock was thrown at a vehicle causing $200 damage when a Morven man was traveling on U.S. 74 West, Rockingham.
n On Easterling Avenue, Ellerbe, someone did $75 damage to a door and screen to enter and steal a television set valued at $250.
n On Charles Street, Hamlet, a 41-year-old woman told deputies she was hit in the head by a suspect.
n On South Street, Rockingham, a 22-year-old man told deputies a suspect kicked open a door to his residence and beat him on the head with a baseball bat.
n At a house on North Grace Chapel Church Road, Hamlet, someone stole $8,300 worth of property.
n On Eddies Lane, Hamlet, a 41-year-old woman told deputies a suspect pushed and hit her.
n From a residence on Old Charlotte Highway, Rockingham, someone stole 240 pills of prescription medications.
n Someone broke into a vehicle on Old Cheraw Highway, Rockingham, doing $300 damage to a window and stealing $630 worth of property.
n A firearm and ammunition valued at $170 were stolen from a residence on James Hand Road, Rockingham, after someone broke into the house through a window causing $100 damage.
n At a house on Gould Street, Rockingham, someone did $300 damage to a window.
