On Sunday morning, June 21, 2009, Mr. Cecil Eugene Jacobs of Rockingham, beloved father, grandfather, husband, brother and friend, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior.

He was born in Robeson County, NC on Jan. 20, 1932 to Voyt (Boyd) and Mancy Lowry Jacobs.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Rothie Ann Jacobs.

Surviving to treasure his memory are his loving wife, of almost 58 years, Mildred Wallace Jacobs of the home; six daughters, Janet McLamb and husband, Ritchie of Raleigh, Teri Melton and husband Gerry of Rockingham, Penny Jacobs of Rockingham, Karen Torrence of Fletcher, NC, Lori Lindsey and husband Stanley of Granite Falls, NC, and Miki Lynne Deese and husband Ted of Rockingham; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Martin, Whitney O’Neal, Stephanie and Michael Deese, all of Rockingham, Caitlin and Lucas McLamb of Raleigh, and Jacob and Matthew Lindsey of Granite Falls; one great-grandson, Jacoby Martin; four brothers, William “Bud” Jacobs and wife Edith, Lanny Jacobs, Dennis Jacobs and wife Annie, Ricky Jacobs and wife Lynn; five sisters, Myra Greene and husband Bobby, Martha Thompson, Merita Davis, Oveter Maree and husband Ralph, all of Rockingham and Shelia Eubanks of Mobile, AL.

Our father would also like us to name his mother-in-law, Viola Wallace of Hamlet; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jackie and Pam Wallace of Dallas, NC, William Wallace, Jr. and Margaret Wallace of Concord, NC, Larry and Janet Wallace of Raytown, Missouri and Doris Steen of Florence, SC; and his many nephews and nieces. In addition we would like to acknowledge a very special friend and caregiver, Mary Baldwin , of Hamlet.

Our father had countless friends in Richmond County, all of whom he loved and cherished. We thank them for the love and support they showed our father before and during his illness.

Visitation will be held the evening of Tuesday, June 23, 2009 from 6:00-8:30 p.m. at Jefferson Park Free Will Baptist Church in Rockingham.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Cole Auditorium on the Richmond Community College campus with the Rev. Melvin Sissoms, Rev. William Jacobs and Rev. Ricky Jacobs officiating. Interment will follow at Richmond Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that everyone, who cared for our father, help and assist someone in need, just as our father did and asked that we do also.

“As in water, face reflects face, so a man’s heart reflects the man.”-Proverbs 27:19
