Marjorie Ruth Anderson Carmichael, 85, of Hamlet, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 12, 2009. She was born August 7, 1923 in Atlanta, Georgia the daughter of the late Arthur and Catherine Anderson. Mrs. Carmichael was a homemaker. She was a dedicated member of 70 years of the First United Methodist Church of Hamlet. Her husband of 61 years, Duncan Carmichael preceded her in death on May 2, 2008. Three brothers and three sisters also preceded her in death.

Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Arthur and Georgie Carmichael of Aberdeen and Richard and Sylvia Carmichael of Rockingham. Grandchildren, Rick Carmichael and wife Teresa of Rockingham and Crystal Cameron of Aberdeen. Great grandchildren, Destiny Carmichael and Danielle Carmichael of Rockingham and Melody Cameron and Macy Cameron of Aberdeen. One brother, Paul Anderson and wife Effie of Hamlet, two sisters, Mary Carter and Sarah Williamson, both of Hamlet.

Graveside services were conducted Monday, June 15, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Mary Love Cemetery by Dr. Milford Oxendine. The family received friends following the service.
