Mrs. Betty Lou Mauldin Smith, 67, of 867 Boyd Lake Road, Hamlet, died, Thursday, June 11, 2009 at her residence.

She was born June 15, 1941, in Richmond County, daughter of Thomas Charles Mauldin and Margaret Brown Mauldin. She worked as a Fire Tower Operator for the NC Forest Service for 37 Yrs. She was a member of Highland Pines Free Will Baptist Church.

Visitation will be Friday, at Harrington Funeral Home from 7:00-9:00 PM

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 13, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Highland Pines Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Don Kivett officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery, Wallace, SC

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her late brother, Tommy Mauldin.

SSurvivors include her husband, Walter Smith of the home; daughters, Deloris Sharpe and husband Mike of Hamlet, Theresa Hancock and husband Terry of Asheboro and Michele Vance and husband Ricky of Hamlet; sons, Walter Charles Smith and wife Nancy of Hamlet and David D. Smith and wife Sandy of Rockingham; sister Linda Jones Eaton of Denton, NC; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Harrington Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Smith Family.
