Deputies say drugs sold in parking lot

Two men were arrested by Richmond County Sheriff’s deputies Tuesday after an alleged drug deal made from a vehicle in a parking lot behind a convenience store on East Broad Avenue, Rockingham, said Capt. J. K. Glidewell.

William Tendrell Lockhart, 21, Loch Haven Road, Rockingham, was arrested on felony charges of possession of cocaine with intent to sell or deliver, selling or delivering cocaine and maintaining a place for controlled substances; and misdemeanor charges of two counts of resisting, obstructing and delaying an arrest, and one county of simple possession of marijuana.

During the arrest, members of the Sheriff’s Office Vice/Narcotics Unit with the assistance of the Rockingham Police Department, seized six

grams of crack cocaine and three grams of marijuana.

His bond was set at $20,000.

Also arrested in the case was Angelo Hosea Davis IV, 30, Dogwood Lane, Rockingham, on felony charges of possession of cocaine with intent to sell or deliver, conspiring to sell cocaine and maintaining a place for controlled substances.

Bond was set at $10,000.

In another case, Codi Andrew Smith, 18, Sandy Ridge Church Road, Rockingham, was arrested on a felony charge of manufacturing marijuana.

His bond was set at $1,000.

Glidewell said members of the Vice/Narcotics Unit went to Smith’s residence and found 28 marijuana plants growing in his back yard.

Sean Eric Ingram, 40, Battley Dairy Road, Rockingham, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of obtaining property by false pretense, Glidewell said.

He was released on a written promise to appear in court.

Involved in the incident was the cashing of a money order for $115 which was discovered to be counterfeit.

Incidents reported to the sheriff’s office that:

n Tools valued at $5,750 were stolen from a storage building at a residence on Center Street, Cordova.

n A weed cutter valued at $140 was stolen from a residence on Wiregrass Road, Rockingham.

n Four tires on a vehicle parked at a residence on Frank W. Davis Drive, Dobbins Heights, were cut causing $500 damage.

n A truck backed into a building on Ellerbe Hatchery Road, Ellerbe, causing $1,000 damage to a door.

n At a mobile home on Boyd Lake Road, Hamlet, someone kicked in a door causing $100 damage and stole $600 worth of appliances.

n A dog was stolen from a residence on Horseshoe Drive, Dobbins Heights.

n Someone broke into a house on U.S. 220 North, Ellerbe, and stole $98 worth of property and $11,400.

n Someone did $600 worth of damage to property on Allred Road, Norman.

Incidents reported to Rockingham Police Department include:

n Police report that fraudulent checks are being passed in the county under the name of Carolina Signworks.

Police said they are drawn on a Wachovia Bank out of New Bern and look like professional payroll checks.

Carolina Signworks does not bank with Wachovia, police said. Anyone receiving such checks is asked to contact local law enforcement.

n Rodney Jarvis Everett, 21, Armstead Street, Rockingham, was arrested on a warrant for his arrest for not appearing in court on felony charges of selling cocaine, delivering cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to sell or deliver, maintaining a place for controlled substances and a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

His bond was set at $50,000.

n A pistol valued at $280 was stolen from a vehicle parked on South Skipper Street, Rockingham.

n A car parked on Colonial Drive, Rockingham, was scratched causing $1,500 damage.

n Alicia Yvette Wright, 20, Laurel Hill, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of trespassing. Bond was set at $500.

n Property valued at $260 was stolen from a vehicle parked at Eastside Cemetery, Rockingham.

n At a restaurant on East Broad Avenue, Rockingham, someone did $50 damage to locks on three vending machines and stole an unknown amount of money.

n Bobby Joe Buffkin, 35, Goodman Street, Rockingham , was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of second-degree trespass. Bond was set at $1,000.

n A window of a vehicle parked at a business on East Broad Avenue was broken causing $150 damage.

n Electronic equipment valued at $1,280 was stolen from a house on Valley Hill Drive, Rockingham.

n Someone did $1,000 damage scratching a vehicle parked at Richmond Plaza Shopping Center, Rockingham.

n Gasoline valued at $20 was stolen from a convenience store on South Hancock Street, Rockingham.

n A camera valued at $300 was stolen from a house on West Temple Avenue, Rockingham.

Information on criminal activity may be reported anonymously to Richmond County Crime Stoppers at 997-5454. When leading to arrests , rewards may be offered for such information.

n Arrest reports published in the Richmond County Daily Journal are copied from local law enforcement records. Except for people injured in motor vehicle accidents or reportable deaths, victims including people, businesses and institutions and their addresses are not included as a matter of newspaper policy.
