FirstHealth to offer summer camps

FirstHealth will offer the following summer camps:

n Basketball Boys Camp for ages 6-18 will be held June 15-19 from 8 a.m. to noon. Nellie and Frank Harrington, basketball coaches for the Richmond County school system, will help you improve your overall skills, such as dribbling, shooting, and passing. A Hot Shot competition will be included. The cost is $50.

n Basketball Girls Camp for ages 6- 18 will be held July 13-17 from 8 a.m. to noon. The camp will be run by Nellie and Frank Harrington. The cost is $50.

n Volleyball Camp for ages 10 -16 will be held June 22-26 from 10 a.m. - noon. Kathy Collins has coached volleyball for over 31 years. She will help you improve your passing, serving, setting and spiking skills. Practice games will be included. The cost is $50.

n Swim and Gym Camp will be held for children ages 4-7 on June 29-July 3, July 20-24, and Aug. 3-7 from 8 a.m.-noon. The cost is $45 for members and $55 for non-members.

n Fitness / Sport Camp class will be held for children ages 8-12 on July 6-10, July 27-31 and Aug. 10-14. the cost is $45 for members and $55 for non-members.

Manna! in Motion still taking runners

The Manna! in Motion 10K, 5K and One Mile Fun Run will be held Saturday at Sandhills Community College. The One Mile Fun Run will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K and 10K runs start at 9 a.m. The race begins at the college’s track and continues through Reservoir Park.

‘Run for the Legend’ set for Saturday

The Airborne & Special Operations Museum Foundation will hold its second annual 5K/10K Run for the Legend on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. All donations and proceeds from the event will support the museum’s operational and educational programs and activities.

The ASOMF Run for the Legend is sanctioned by USA Track & Field. The USATF certified course begins and ends on the Hay Street side of the museum. Atlantic Coast Timing Systems will time the participants using the ChampionChip system.

The top three men and women in each race receive trophies. The top three men and women in their age group will receive medals.

Online registration is available through the museum’s website at www.asomf.org or www.active.com, which will also accept donations. Registration is also available at the museum. Participants may turn in their forms and entry fee in the museum gift shop, or mail them to the museum. Registration is $25. Strollers, wagons, and well behaved, leashed dogs are permitted, but will be asked to start in the back.
